Our Promise

The very first thing is, we do not charge, claim ownership, or take any part of your songs. We are not a publisher, a record company, or a PRO. Halo's Planet exists solely to serve the songwriting community because we saw a need.

As a listener what can I do with a song that I find here?

The short answer is that you can listen, forward the song in an email link or text on your phone, read the lyric, see the Copyright number, length of the song in seconds. Maybe the most important thing you can do with a song here is to be able to click on the name of the songwriter and open their Songwriter Profile page. There you can learn more about the songwriter, see the other songs that they have here, and contact them directly through email.
If you are interested in using a song, want to record a song or have any other reason to contact the songwriter directly, that function is only a click away.
One thing to add here. The songwriter is the owner of their song. Any unauthorized use of their song is illegal. Please contact the songwriter.

Why We Built Halo's Planet

The songwriting community is a unique part of the music world, and our needs are very different from other streaming services. As a songwriter I ran directly into this issue when trying to post my songs someplace, including all the information that really belongs beside an original song. If you're sending a song to an artist, executive, collaborator, or simply emailing someone a link, there really hasn't been a good place to do that. And where do the lyrics live? That's important too.

Open any song tile to play the song, read the lyrics while it plays, view copyright registration, writers, release date, song length, description, and use Copy Song Link or Share Song to send that exact song to someone else.

Songwriters: as we've said above, halosplanet.com doesn't want any monetary or user piece of your songs. We are only hosting your song so they can be played by anyone, anywhere. That means that it is your responsibility to protect your song with a Copyright legal protection. We claim no security of who will be playing your songs, or what they may choose to do with them because they heard them here. Protecting your songs is your responsibility as a writer and owner of those songs. That is your responsibility as the person posting your songs anywhere in public or private. We do not claim to protect them from distribution in any way. Sounds real scary right? Yes, it's the same here as any other place you choose to put your songs for other people to hear them. You of course have the option of keeping them in a box in your attic....

Where It All Began

I ran an all-originals open mic for many years. The inspiration for Halo's Planet was to build an online version of that experience—with all the information an original song deserves, without trying to hear it across a noisy crowded room.
